The Barefoot Natives

Posted on Sep 4th, 2007 by WeeWarrior : lelabear WeeWarrior

In the spirit of Aloha, I am pleased to share with my Zaadz friends one of our most treasured island bands, The Barefoot Natives. They are local boyz who are a true blast to watch perform and some of the most talented and funny guys I've ever seen anywhere. I was actually at this concert, which was a benefit for our local non-profit FM station, Mana'o Radio, which is an awesome radio station...you can listen live here:

And don't be surprised if you suddenly find yourself singing along with Willie and Eric, Hawaiian music can do that to you!

Sirus B - A Peaceful Solution

It's Maui Magic at work again! One of our favorite islanders, Willie Nelson, posted a call for artists everywhere to submit interpretations of his song "A Peaceful Solution." Some friends of mine in a local reggae band called Sirus B took up the challenge and created a beautiful version of Willie's original. When they found out I did little videos for free, they asked me to put together something to go with their adaptation, which was quite a delight since it's such a great song!
Since posting it on YouTube and Google, we have been contacted by Willie's team, who are planning to post it on their website here:

I hope other creative Zaadzters are encouraged to submit their own version and join us in our mission to dream A Peaceful Solution!

Bubbles to the Rescue

Saving_the_planet_with_bubbles

Bubbles? That's right, just like the dolphins told Joan Ocean on the Big Island, BUBBLES are a totally overlooked energy source that could be used to save the planet. I had mulled this idea around awhile, seemed to make sense on some basic level, but then again, how could bubbles be utilized?

Well, the ole universe decided that I deserved an answer to this question, so I have spent the last week learning just how this is going to happen. I've met up with an interesting and brilliant bunch of folks right here on Maui that have developed an air filter that's secret ingredient is, you got it, Bubbles!

This Aqueous Froth Air filter system is now a patented reality, proven up one side and down the other by the US gov't types. Turns out this little system works just like a rainstorm in nature, and it captures the particles in the air in the nucleus of it's little bubbles and harmlessly washes them away, so all that's left is nice clean air!

But the fun doesn't stop there! Once you get the bubble froth processed, you wind up with a carbon sludge that is manna from heaven to algae, pure CO2 for their collective consumption. But wait, there's more! Turns out some other really smart guys have figured out how to farm that algae and process it into bio-diesel! WOW!

This can develop a renewable, sustainable fuel source that can replace petroleum right away...and it can be grown vertically or in desert environments where it won't threaten the agricultural land that grows our crops. This could end the slash and burn techniques that are accompanying our current palm oil biodiesel movement.

So, we can have clean air and renewable energy, all in one fell swoop!

Of course, the PTB, we all know about them, seem intent on crushing this idea before it has a chance to save our planet from their oily clutches, but we all also know that the time has come for such innovation, and all the backstabbing and bullshit in the world ain't gonna stop such an incredible possibility.

I'll be posting videos on this subject soon, in the mean time, if you're interested in learning more, visit their website at www.peletex.com. It's a bit dry at the moment, but I'll be working on buffing it up, too, so we can get the word out and move into a clean future free of nasty slimy oil and all it touches as we breath the wonderful clean fresh air and watch our planet heal.

Let me know what you think...the more the merrier on this one!!!
